Spitfire Computer was founded in 1992, with the initial goal of providing support to the printing and publishing industry. Our focus back then was on Apple products and building robust networks that could handle the very large data files used in printing and publishing.  As the computer industry evolved, Spitfire's focus shifted from product sales to consulting and the development Open Source based solutions.  This dovetailed nicely with Apple's introduction of OSX, support for the Macintosh has always been and is still a key part of the business, and with it's unix foundation, many of the tools that we use on Linux work just as well on the Macintosh.

Spitfire works with a select group of clients, and offers great service, quick response and the best service gaurantee. We are very good at what we do, we do it very well and would like to talk with you if you have IT problems that you just can't seem to resolve.  We might tell you we can't fix it, we might tell you we can, we will tell you how much it will cost before we start and we won't send you a bill unless we fix the problem.

It maybe a mistake to try do too much with one website, but we are going to try it anyway. Obviously we want to promote Spitfire Computer, in addition we want to document and promote open source, and more importantly how it is being used in the real world. Last but not least, we are a Pittsburgh company, and think that it would be great if there was a place for the Pittsburgh tech community to get together. So if you are working in IT in Pittsburgh, sign into the forums and join in.
